Have you ever looked at pictures of the Grand Canyon? Oh man, they are absolutely breath-taking. I’ve personally never been, but it’s on THE list. When I’m finally able to go out there I know for sure that I won’t take any of pictures of the Grand Canyon I’ve seen on the internet with me. I mean who goes to THE Grand Canyon, and while there looks at photo stocks of the Grand Canyon. I feel like I often hold a picture of God up against God. Perhaps an old revelation or experience-though true of who God is- I settle for that image over receiving more of God, as He wants to be revealed… Isn’t it rather silly that we try to hold on to one facet of an infinite God?
And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:3-4
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt yourself as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11
You may or may not know this about me, but I often laugh (and sometimes complain) about how the things that “should” come easily to the average person never does for me. Something like mailing a letter, for example. I can typically expect it to get lost or take a crazy amount of time to get to its destination. While this is funny and maybe silly, this is often where I find myself and, if I’m not in-tuned with the spirit, I’m usually complaining or throwing a pity party where I’m the hostess AND guest of honor. I find myself asking God “how is this even fair”, (just random side note-don’t ask- the answer is that its not…and you wouldn’t want it to be fair… that’s why there’s grace and if God was fair, I wouldn’t be here). Hear this-yes, grieve what needs to be grieved and take care of what needs to be taken care of, but pity parties aren’t cute and neither are they great for your soul.
I’ve learned through years of various hardships that God wants to reveal HIMSELF. Always. He wants you to see HIM, for who HE is-not the idea of Him you have in your head, not even what your pastor told you about Him. Our God is personal and he wants you to have a personal account of Him. God stands in all of His glory, splendor, and majesty ready to meet you right where you are TODAY.
Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory. Isaiah 43:6-7
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14
In this season, I’m learning to receive God as restorer. I first went to Him thinking I needed Him as healer, and I certainly do, but as God kindly reminded me-“Sam, you KNOW that I’m healer… But I’m also the God who restores ALL things and I WILL restore you. I will show you a part of me you’ve yet to see or experience if you would only trust me. I will show you”.
I’m not sure where you are while you’re reading this, but I know with all of my being-God never ceases to draw your heart to His. With every hardship and every joy, He absolutely desires to show you more of Himself. Listen, sometimes holding on to the Truth of who God has been for you in the past is what’s going to get you through, but maybe just for a little while.
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. Isaiah 65:24
For it is God who IS at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Let’s not limit God to what He’s done, because He IS doing…
